6 Ways To Save Money
On Your Auto Insurance
Do you feel like owning a car is more expensive than ever before?
Rising fuel prices, higher purchase prices, and increasing insurance costs are just a few of the obstacles that Washington residents are facing. With raising costs all around us, there are still opportunities for cost savings!
Here are 6 great ways
you can save money
on your car insurance!
1. Shop Around
When shopping for auto insurance, different insurance companies will have different rates! This is in part due to different auto insurance discounts available, your driving history, the value of your car, and even crime statistics in your area.
The benefit of working with an insurance brokerage is that you don’t have to spend your time shopping around for auto insurance! Say goodbye to pushy sales tactics, clunky insurance quote request forms, and spam emails for the rest of your life. When you call Brookey, it’s one stop shopping!
Shopping around for car insurance can be a lengthy and time-consuming process, save time by getting a free auto insurance quote today!

2. Bundle & Save!
Bundling your insurance simply means that you’re buying multiple types of policy (auto, home, renters, ATV, RV, etc.) with one insurance provider.
By bundling your auto insurance with another insurance like, homeowners/renters insurance, RV insurance, or even motorcycle insurance, you can take advantage of the multi-policy discounts available from our partners!
Not only does bundling your auto insurance policy with another insurance policy save you money, it also saves you time, energy, and makes the claims process easier.
Rather than working with several different companies, one company will protect your interests, giving you one point of contact, one payment to make, and one place to make claims if involved in a car accident or other scenario in which you need to file a claim.
3. Take advantage of auto
insurance discounts available
There are a variety of auto insurance discounts available! Each carrier will call their discounts something different, but common auto insurance discounts can be Good Student discounts, Safe Driver discounts, Low Mileage discounts, and much more!
This is another perk of working with the team here at Brookey Insurance Services! We know to ask for the discounts you qualify for, saving you money on your auto insurance payment each month!
We have great relationships with our insurance carrier partners, which gives us the ability to save you money! We know which discounts to ask for, which auto insurance discounts you may qualify for, and we’re in good standing with our insurance partners, meaning they’ll work with us to lower your auto insurance premium.
4. Drive Safely
This part goes without saying, but one of the simplest ways to save on your auto insurance is to avoid being in a car accident! Now, we understand accidents happen (after all, they are called “accidents” not “on-purpose”) but avoiding at-fault accidents is a great way to keep your auto insurance premium lower.
Generally speaking, a not-at-fault accident, meaning the fault of the accident was found to be the other driver, will not increase your monthly auto insurance payment*. This is because the at-fault driver’s (in this case the other driver) insurance will be responsible for paying the expenses of the claim.
Now, this is not a rule of thumb. If you were previously involved in a car accident that was determined to be your fault, there is the potential that the not-at-fault accident could affect your rates.
* This is not legal advice or considered to be true in all situations. Auto insurance rates will be determined based on a number of factors, not controlled by Brookey Insurance Services. Insurance rates will be determined by the insurance carrier for the insured party.
5. Increase your Deductible
By increasing your auto insurance deductible, you’re reducing the amount your insurance provider will need to pay in the event of an auto insurance claim.
If you have an auto loan on your vehicle, some insurance providers require that you have a standard deductible, and won’t allow it to be changed.
However, if your insurance provider allows you to choose your auto insurance deductible, switching from a lower deductible to a higher deductible typically reduces your monthly auto insurance payment.
When choosing your auto insurance deductible, you should choose a deductible that you know you can afford in the event of a claim. If you are involved in an accident or file a claim for something else that causes you to not be able to use your vehicle, you’ll want to fix your vehicle quickly. If your auto insurance deductible is too high, you may not be able to afford to have your vehicle fixed.
6. Only Pay for the Coverage you Need
Did you know that unless a lender or 3rd party requires you to get full coverage, you can save money on your auto insurance by only paying for the parts of the policy you want/need?
Washington State has minimum auto insurance coverages of $25,000 for injuries or death to another person, $50,000 for injuries or death to all other people, and $10,000 for damage to another person’s property. Read more about the Washington State Auto Insurance requirements here.
Other coverages like rental car coverage, roadside assistance, or other optional coverages can be left off your policy to save you money each month. Word of warning: in the event of a claim, you’ll have to pay out of pocket to get a rental car. Having these coverages does increase your monthly auto insurance rate, but it does save you out-of-pocket expenses in the future event of a claim.
